RESEARCH AND ADMINISTRATIVE WORK
Professor Herzog maintains teaching and research interests in regional and labor economics. His recent publications have investigated various labor market dimensions of transition in Central European countries. These include studies of: (1) how plant scale and agglomeration erected under central planning effect current employment growth; and (2) the incidence of involuntary job loss. Other work has addressed regional structural impediments to reemployment in the U.S., the job search outcomes of trade-displaced U.S. workers, and the effects of ethnicity on job tenure in New Zealand.
Dr. Herzog was a recent Senior Fulbright Scholar in New Zealand, and serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Regional Science, Environmental and Resource Economics, and Review of Regional Studies.
